Abstract
The breeding of walnut (Juglans regia L.) is of strategic importance for global food security and agricultural biodiversity. A comprehensive analysis of the scientific environment and research development in walnut breeding is important for determining future breeding directions. In this study, a total of 705 publications indexed under the keyword ‘Walnut Breeding’ in the Web of Science database were subjected to a comprehensive bibliometric analysis in order to evaluate the current research environment. The obtained data examined patterns of co-authorship, citation-based country interactions, corporate affiliations and keyword densities using VOSviewer for network visualization and mapping. The findings confirm that more than 75% of the total publications are original research articles and that the field is primarily based on empirical studies. In walnut breeding research, the journals ‘Horticulture’ and ‘Plant Sciences’ hold a dominant position. UC Davis Walnut breeding, Chinese forestry Academy and serves as the main centers of leading research centers and activities at Purdue University. Citation analysis identifies ‘Vahdati K.’, ‘McGranahan G.H.’, and ‘Sütyemez M.’ as influential actors shaping the conceptual framework of the field. Moreover, evidence supports that the USA, Türkiye, Iran, and China play central roles in global collaboration networks. The keyword density map demonstrates a change from conventional germplasm research toward molecular and environmental topics, including documents analysis, association mapping, and climate change adaptation, marking a paradigm change. Abstract
Labor productivity, one of the main indicators that determines the performance of national economies, is considered one of the important determinants of economic growth and competitiveness. In the literature, it is seen that labor productivity is generally explained by economic variables such as physical capital, technology investments, and R&D expenditures. However, in recent years, it has been emphasized that structural factors such as institutional structure, governance quality, and democratic processes can also have significant effects on labor productivity. The aim of this study is to analyse the impact of democracy and governance indicators on labor productivity within the framework of machine learning methods. In the study, indicators obtained from the V-Dem (Varieties of Democracy) data set were used as independent variables to represent democracy and governance dimensions, and to represent labor productivity, the output per worker series taken from the ILOSTAT database of the International Labor Organization (ILO) was included in the model as a dependent variable. The analysis was carried out using data for the period 2016-2023, covering 42 countries. Random Forest algorithm was applied in the modelling process, and the interpretability of model results was supported by SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) analysis. The findings show that the model has high explanatory power, reaching R²=0.979 in the test set. SHAP results revealed that equal access to health services and equal access to economic resources are the variables that most strongly affect labor productivity. These findings show that fair access to social rights and public services plays a decisive role in labor productivity and reveals the importance of democratic institutions and quality of governance in increasing labor productivity.

Abstract
In the face of escalating global environmental challenges in recent years, the concept of eco-innovation -a subcategory of innovation with an environmental focus- has emerged as a strategic policy instrument that holistically addresses environmental sustainability alongside foreign trade performance, within the broader pursuit of sustainable economic growth. This study investigates the effects of economic growth and the Global Innovation Index (GII) on export performance in G7 (United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, France) countries during the period 2013–2020, employing a panel data analysis approach. The empirical analysis utilizes data from the World Bank, OECD and WIPO, transforming the variables of exports (as a percentage of GDP), GDP per capita, and GII using natural logarithms. The results indicate that both economic growth and innovation capacity exert a statistically significant and positive impact on export performance. Specifically, a 1% increase in GDP per capita is associated with a 0.4488% increase in exports, while a 1% increase in the GII corresponds to a 0.1076% rise in exports. These findings underscore the critical role of innovation-driven growth strategies and eco-innovation policies in enhancing international trade performance and promoting environmental sustainability.

Production and Marketing of Walnut in Çağlayancerit District of Kahramanmaraş Province

Aydemir, Z., Özcan, A., Aytekin, M.

Black Sea Journal of Agriculture, 8(2), 194–204

DOI · 10.47115/bsagriculture.1624433

Abstract
This study was conducted to evaluate the current situation of walnut production and marketing in Çağlayancerit district of Kahramanmaraş province, which has an important place in terms of walnut cultivation in Türkiye. Within the scope of the study, secondary source walnut production data of Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) were used. In addition, verbal interviews were conducted with producer and NGOs. In the research, SWOT analysis was conducted by examining the secondary data of producer and NGOs. Walnut production in Çağlayancerit increased from 520 decares in 2004 to 35,000 decares in 2023. The increase in walnut production area between these years is calculated as 149%. According to 2023 data, approximately 6,750 tonnes of shelled walnuts was produced in 35,000 decares. With these values, Çağlayancerit is the district with the highest walnut production area and amount among the 11 districts of Kahramanmaraş. Interviews with professional chambers and local people revealed that the walnut genotype, which has been cultivated in the region for many years, was registered by selection breeding and included in the National variety list by the Central Directorate of Seed Registration and Certification of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye in 2009 under the name of ‘Maraş 18’. While ‘Maraş 18’ variety was known only by the people of the region before 2009, today it has become a variety known all over Türkiye and even the world. As a result of the SWOT analysis of the interviews with the NGOs and producers of the region; being in a good geographical location in walnut production, being in the position of walnut gene centre, carrying out production activities according to the land conditions, having academic experts in the region on walnut production and cooperation can be considered as strengths. When we look at the weaknesses; climate change, global warming, decrease in groundwater in recent years, deterioration of the ecological balance of the region, spread of plant diseases and pests, increase in input costs, decrease in the number of experienced farmers, lack of cooperatives and unions, insufficient promotion of the district walnut. For Çağlayancerit walnut production and marketing to gain momentum, it will be beneficial to increase the regional incentive investments by the state and private sector and increase the number of cooperatives/unions. The active use of the existing walnut processing and packaging facility will also contribute to the branding process of the walnut in the region. In addition, it is thought that the recognition of the region with this variety will increase by focusing on the advertising and marketing activities of the name ‘Maraş 18’ in the domestic and foreign markets.

Female Labor Force Profile and Analysis in Türkiye

Ertürkmen, G., Aydemir, Z.

in Academic Analysis in Macroeconomics (pp. 1–20). Özgür Yayınları

DOI · 10.58830/ozgur.pub570.c2321

Abstract
This research addresses the main problems affecting women's labor force participation in Türkiye and the proposed solutions to these problems. Women's participation in economic activities is vital not only for economic development but also for the goal of achieving gender equality. The research analyzes multidimensional factors shaping women's employment, such as education level, gender roles, informal work, glass ceiling syndrome, marital status and childcare. Data for 2021-2024 reveal that women's employment has increased, but this increase is largely concentrated in the service sector. In high value-added industrial and technology sectors, women's representation remains limited and they are mostly employed in low-status and unskilled jobs. Although higher levels of education support women's participation in the labor force, childcare responsibilities, insufficient flexible working arrangements and lack of social support mechanisms are among the main obstacles limiting women's employment. In order to increase women's participation in the labor force and develop more sustainable solutions in this area, it is recommended to increase access to education, prevent informal work, expand flexible working opportunities and implement programs that encourage female leadership. Such policies will be an important step in ensuring social equality while supporting economic growth.
